Extract Audio from Video Podcasts
A video podcast can go to YouTube and Spotify as video, and to Apple Podcasts and other apps as audio. This tool takes the audio track from an MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM, or MKV file and saves it as MP3 for publishing or WAV for editing. The video is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
How to turn a video into an audio episode
- Choose the video file. The tool reads its first audio track.
- Choose MP3 if the audio is ready to publish, or WAV if you will edit it first.
- Set the bitrate and channels, then extract. Mono at 96 to 128 kbps suits a conversation.
MP3 or WAV?
Video files usually store audio as AAC, which is already compressed. Extracting to MP3 compresses it again, which is fine for a clean recording you will publish as is. If you will clean it up with the audio enhancer or edit it, extract to WAV and create the MP3 once at the end. A bitrate higher than the source adds no detail. 128 kbps covers almost every call recording.
Before you publish the audio version
Listen for moments that only work on video, such as “as you can see here” or a shared slide. Trim or re-record them. Then add your intro and outro with the audio joiner and tag the file with the MP3 tag editor.
Frequently asked questions
Can I extract audio from a YouTube link?
No. The tool works with video files on your device. It doesn’t download from websites and can’t read DRM-protected media. Only convert recordings you own or have permission to use.
Why does it say my file has no audio track?
Some screen recordings have no sound, and some files use an audio format the engine can’t read. Re-export the video as a standard MP4 with AAC audio and try again.
Is there a size limit?
Videos can be up to 2 GB, which covers most hour-long Zoom, Riverside, and iPhone recordings. The extracted audio can be up to 256 MB, about four and a half hours of 128 kbps MP3. For long 4K recordings over 2 GB, export the audio from your recording platform instead.
Can it separate the host and guest?
Only if they were recorded on separate tracks or files. Voices mixed into one track can’t be separated.
