Audio Trimmer for Podcasts
Trim setup chatter and dead air from podcast recordings, or cut a cold open or trailer clip. Exact timestamps, fades, MP3 or WAV export.
This audio trimmer helps you keep one continuous section of a recording and remove everything before and after it. It opens MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, AAC, OGG, Opus, and AIFF files and exports to MP3 or WAV.
How to trim a podcast recording
- Add a recording from your device. Once loaded, a waveform of the whole file shows where speech starts and stops.
- Set the start and end with the sliders, or type times as seconds, MM:SS, or HH:MM:SS. Click Preview selected range to hear what you will keep.
- Add a fade if a cut sounds abrupt, choose MP3 or WAV, and download.
What part of the episode should you trim
- Episode heads and tails. Zoom, Riverside, and SquadCast recordings include setup talk and a sign-off chat. Removing them is the first edit on most episodes.
- Cold opens. Cut 15 to 45 seconds of the best moment to play before your intro music. End on a line that makes people want the answer.
- Trailers. Apple Podcasts has a trailer episode type. Trim each moment here, then put them in order with the audio joiner.
- Social clips. For a video clip, use the audiogram maker, which has the same range selector.
- Sponsor reads. Pull out a host-read ad to send for approval or to reuse in later episodes.
Removing a section from the middle
The trimmer keeps one range. To cut out a cough or an off-the-record tangent, split at both edges of it with the MP3 splitter, then join the parts you keep. Export WAV in both steps so the audio is compressed only once.
