How this comparison was built
Beamly publishes this comparison and is one of the products in it. Prices, limits, and plan details come from each provider’s official pricing page and help documentation. The recommendations include several cases where another host is a better choice. This comparison covers published plan details. It does not score dashboard usability or support quality, which would require controlled hands-on testing. Features that depend on an enterprise contract, ad-marketplace approval, or a separate add-on are not treated as part of the entry plan. Check the linked pricing page before paying, especially if one limit would force an upgrade.Podcast hosting platform comparison

Start with the limit you are likely to hit
Upload-based plans reward a predictable schedule. A weekly 60-minute show publishes about 52 hours a year, which fits inside Buzzsprout’s 72-hour annual allowance. A weekly 90-minute show reaches about 78 hours before trailers or bonus episodes, so it needs a higher plan. Libsyn’s Basic allowance of three new audio hours each month fits three 60-minute episodes, not four. Buzzsprout does not sell extra hours on annual plans, so an annual account must upgrade when the allowance runs out. Its monthly plans can bill for extra upload time. Download-based hosts tend to handle overages differently. Transistor and Captivate say they keep serving the audio after a first overage, then ask the publisher to upgrade if usage remains above the plan limit. Download-based plans need a different calculation. Four new episodes under a 20,000-download monthly cap appear to allow 5,000 downloads per episode, but downloads of older episodes count too. A growing back catalog can push the account toward an upgrade even when the release schedule stays the same. Transistor and Captivate also share the account allowance across every show. Castos, Podbean, Spotify for Creators, and RSS.com do not use public podcast downloads as the main upgrade trigger on the plans shown above. Their constraints sit elsewhere, such as upload size, private subscribers, analytics, video, or access to business tools.Treat podcast hosting and your website as separate decisions
Public podcast hosting is reasonably portable. A standard move copies the media and episode data to the new host, then places a permanent redirect on the old RSS feed. Supporting podcast apps update the feed address, and existing subscribers usually keep receiving episodes. Historical analytics often do not move with the feed, so export any reports you need before cancelling. Confirm how long the old host’s redirect will remain active and check the major listening apps yourself. The website needs a separate migration plan. If the current site uses a host-owned subdomain, those page URLs usually cannot move with you. A custom domain gives you more control, but you may still need to rebuild templates and map redirects for episode pages. This is why the included mini-site should not decide where the audio is hosted. You can also build the website before moving the feed. A podcast website builder that syncs an existing RSS feed can launch the site while the show remains on Buzzsprout, Libsyn, Transistor, or another host. That keeps the website rebuild and hosting migration as two separate projects.Private feeds and premium subscriptions are different
“Private podcasting” covers several delivery methods. Transistor, Captivate, Castos, and Beamly can issue a different RSS feed URL to each listener. That setup lets the publisher remove one person’s access without replacing the feed for everyone. An unlisted feed is weaker. Simplecast can hide a feed from public directories and offers additional feeds on higher plans, but anyone with the shared URL can pass it on. Apple Podcasts Subscriptions take another route. Libsyn and RSS.com can publish premium episodes inside Apple Podcasts, where Apple controls billing and listening access. That can be convenient for an Apple-heavy audience, but it is not a private RSS feed that members can add to other compatible apps. A 200-member private show already exceeds the entry allowances at Transistor, Captivate, Castos, and Podbean. Compare the next plan or subscriber add-on before launch rather than budgeting from the public-hosting price. Beamly Creator includes 1,000 members, including paid members. Private feed migrations also need a member plan, because individual feed URLs and access records do not move through the public RSS redirect. For a paid community, check who owns the customer relationship, whether access follows the billing status, and whether each member gets a revocable feed. Beamly’s podcast memberships connect Stripe billing, website login, paywalled content, and a unique member feed under the creator’s own brand.Check where video will play
Video support does not mean the same thing on every host. Spotify for Creators stores video for Spotify and sends audio through RSS to other apps. Buzzsprout’s $25 plan publishes video to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube. Captivate charges $12 per show each month for Apple HLS video, while its regular hosting plans remain audio-first. Libsyn includes up to 100 GB of video each month on its standard plans. Basic includes YouTube distribution, while Spotify video starts on Advanced and Apple HLS was still listed as coming soon when this guide was checked. Podbean adds video at $29 a month with annual billing. RSS.com reserves native video podcasting for its $37 Max plan. Castos starts YouTube republishing on Growth and native video file hosting on its $99 Pro plan. Transistor has video hosting in beta for Professional and higher plans, alongside its established YouTube auto-posting feature. Simplecast also supports video uploads and direct YouTube publishing on eligible higher plans. Beamly includes website video hosting on Creator. Pick the destination before the host. A show that only needs video on Spotify has different requirements from one that needs files on its own website or distribution to Apple Podcasts and YouTube. When Beamly is and is not the right choice
Beamly makes sense when the podcast needs a customizable website, podcast analytics for a Beamly-hosted show, memberships with unique private feeds, and digital products under one brand. Advanced website analytics require Creator or Business. Beamly can host the show or keep syncing the current RSS feed. Done-for-you migrations are free for upgraded accounts, with annual plans receiving priority. It is more platform than some podcasts need:- A free public feed. Spotify for Creators and RSS.com both offer ongoing free hosting. The free podcast hosting comparison also covers RedCircle, Podbean, and Acast.
- Many public shows with no wider website plan. Transistor, Captivate, and Castos include unlimited shows on their standard plans. Their billing models are easier to justify when hosting and analytics are the main jobs.
- An established WordPress setup. Castos fits a team already publishing through WordPress and its Seriously Simple Podcasting plugin.
- An advertising-led network. Acast, Spreaker, RedCircle, and enterprise hosts put more emphasis on marketplaces and dynamic ad operations.
