Product Update: Sell One-Time Products & Create Hosted Private Podcasts/Videos 🚀

August 18, 2025

Today, we’re expanding what you can do with memberships on Beamly (formerly Podcastpage.io) in a big way. Users who have the Memberships Add-on can now create and distribute private podcasts (audio and video) or private video channels.

Furthermore, you can also set up and sell one‑time products – this allows you to offer one-off packages with your content – podcast episodes, videos, blog posts, and even custom pages. You can now also include files with those products and sell digital downloads.

This release makes Beamly the easiest place to run a premium audio/video show, manage members, and control exactly who can access what. Your membership engine is also your growth engine and website – no need to pile up multiple tools and try to tape all those tools together.

What’s new? Here’s a quick summary:

  • Private podcasts with unique subscriber feeds: Generate a private URL and RSS feed for every member so you can grant/revoke access per subscriber and per plan.
  • Audio and video podcast feeds: Offer both traditional audio feeds and video feeds. Members can listen or watch in supported apps or directly on your site.
  • Videos, automatically optimized: Upload large video files and we’ll optimize them automatically for smooth and reliable HLS streaming with MP4 fallback.
  • One‑Time products: In addition to recurring subscriptions, sell single‑payment access to premium content, bundles, or special releases.
  • Digital Downloads: Include downloadable files with your membership plans and one-time products.

Why private podcast feeds matter

With unique private feeds and separate URLs for each member, your subscribers get a seamless listening or watching experience in their favorite podcast apps or directly on your site. You retain full control – down to the individual member – so you can protect premium content, track engagement, and adjust access instantly.

Private feeds are perfect for internal updates, training series, or cohort‑based programs. You can also use them for ad‑free editions, early releases, or exclusive bonus episodes.

You can now upload your audio and video media directly on Beamly. This gives you the flexibility to create new podcasts, video channels, or simply feature premium or website-only episodes or videos. Private podcast feeds support both video and audio.

On your Beamly site, members get a fast, consistent media player experience. You decide whether an entire podcast, channel, or just select episodes are available to your members only.

One‑Time products

Subscriptions are fantastic for recurring revenue, but not every offer needs a renewal. With One-Time Products, you can sell single‑payment access to specific content or bundles.

You can now offer your podcast, blog or video content as a one-off purchase. Many podcasters don’t focus on selling subscriptions, so a one-time option can be a great enabler. Additionally, you now have the ability to create a digital storefront and sell products alongside membership/subscription options.

A few popular use cases:

  • Season passes or mini‑series: One payment grants access to a full run of premium episodes.
  • Workshops and replays: Sell access to live sessions or recorded events.
  • Collections: Package podcasts or episodes, blog posts, and video channels into a single product.

You can mix and match – keep your core membership recurring, and layer on limited series, events, or premium drops as one‑offs as one-time products.

Real‑world examples you can launch today

Here are a few patterns we’re seeing creators use successfully:

  • Ad‑free: Keep your public feed as‑is. Offer a private, ad‑free version for members.
  • Video‑first show: Publish the full video podcast to paying members; give free members the audio‑only version or sample clips.
  • Bonus episodes: Offer full-length or bonus episodes that are not available on your public RSS feed.
  • Seasonal/limited releases: Produce limited series and sell them as One‑Time products.
  • Business/education hub: Deliver internal updates, onboarding, or training via private audio/video feeds. Gate companion resources behind the same plan.

FAQs

Do I need a separate host for private podcasts?
No. You can upload audio and video directly to Beamly for private distribution to your members.

Can members listen/watch in their favorite app?
Yes – members can add their unique private RSS feed to apps that support custom/private feeds (e.g., Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts). Some apps don’t support private feeds; in those cases, members can always access all content on your website.

How does access control work?
Each subscriber gets a unique feed and secure URLs tied to their account and plan. You can grant or revoke access per member or per tier at any time.

What about video quality and delivery?
Our video player is automatically optimized, and fully supports HLS for fast and reliable playback across devices and bandwidths. (We also support MP4 as a fallback.)

Can I sell one‑off content without changing my existing plans?
Yes. Products are separate from your existing subscription plans. Create a new product to sell single‑payment access alongside your existing recurring plans.

Do you take a cut of my revenue?
Beamly charges 0% platform fees on transactions. Standard Stripe processing/billing fees still apply. See Stripe’s pricing for details.

Tips for launching and growing a premium show

  • Start with clear tiers: Define exactly what members get at each level (e.g., ad‑free, early access, bonus episodes, video archive, community).
  • Offer a free taste: Gate part of the catalog but leave some samples or previews public to drive conversions.
  • Bundle smartly: Pair audio and video with members‑only posts, transcripts, or resources for higher perceived value.
  • Experiment with One‑Time: Use one‑off drops for seasonal series, live event replays, or special collaborations.
  • Keep it consistent: Publish on a schedule and announce perks clearly on your Plans page and in episode descriptions.

Bonus update: New blog layout (magazine/publication style)

publication blog style widget

Meet the new magazine/publication-style blog layout. Until now, you could display posts as a grid, list, or carousel – now you can present content in a rich editorial format with a large feature area. It’s perfect for users who publish often and want a premium, publishing-grade look with stronger discovery and engagement. You can easily use it directly on your homepage or blog page by just adding the Blog Widget and selecting the “News/Magazine” layout option in the settings.

Final thoughts

These new features give you more control over how you publish and monetize your content. Whether you’re running a fan‑supported show, an education series, or internal comms for a company, you can now deliver an exceptional members‑only experience – on your terms. Easily include audio and video as part of your membership plans, or offer one-off products.

That’s it for this (huge) round of updates. Though, it’s not even the biggest release we have for you in 2025 – we have our largest update EVER planned for later this year so stay tuned! 👀👀👀
